Resettling in Czech Republic

As a company with more than 14,000 Ukrainian team members, EPAM understands the challenges faced by millions of people across Ukraine, including the many who have been forced to leave the country. Our teams on the ground and around the world have been doing everything possible to support our Ukrainian colleagues and their families. Their safety is our top priority.

In supporting our colleagues, we have collected a vast amount of information about arriving and resettling in a new country, either temporarily or permanently. We are now sharing it here in the hope it could be valuable to you or someone you know.

Please note that the information is subject to change at any given time due to rapidly changing circumstances.

Entering the Czech Republic

Ukrainian citizens must register at the foreign police department (address: Olšanská 2176, 130 00 Praha 3-Žižkov) or at any MOI department of asylum and migration policy within 30 days after the arrival.

Registration needs to be done in person and for the registration you need to fill in Přihlašovací_tiskopis.pdf. In the case of accommodation in hotels or other facilities, this obligation is handled by the landlord. We recommend that you make sure that the landlord has completed this task.

Registration can be also done at the Assistance Center located in the Congress Center Prague at Vyšehrad (address: 5.května 1640/65, 140 21 Praha - Nusle).

Ukrainian citizens can legally remain on the territory of CZ without a Visa for 90 days but are not eligible to work for Czech companies.

Toleration Visa

Ukrainian citizens can apply for a toleration visa (účel strpění) at the Assistance Center located in the Congress Center Prague at Vyšehrad (address: 5.května 1640/65, 140 21 Praha - Nusle).

  • Required documents: passport, 1 passport sized photo 3,5x4,5 cm, application form and if, registered by the landlord, confirmation of registration.
  • The Visa is issued on a spot, the expected period of validity is 1 year. Personal presence of each applicant is mandatory. For details, please check MOI website.

Work Permit Application

As of March 21, 2022, toleration visa holders have free access to the labor market and do not need a separate work permit.

  • For dogs, cats, and ferrets, a 10-day quarantine is required after entering the Czech Republic. Within 72 hours, the animal shall be clinically examined by a private veterinarian to rule out the presence of rabies. A mandatory re-examination of the animal for rabies will follow between the fifth and tenth day of quarantine. Completed form with the information about the animal must be hand over to the State Veterinary Administration. More details and the needed form can be found on website of the State Veterinary Administration.
  • There is no quarantine requirement for animals that are not a dog, cat or ferret.

Ukrainian refugees, who apply for the special long-term visa, automatically become part of the public health insurance system with access to free health care in the Czech Republic. The insurance for them is covered by the Czech state. However, it is necessary to visit any public health insurance company within 5 days after the special long-term visa is granted and receive a document confirming your insurance.

A list of VZP offices can be found here: https://www.vzp.cz/kontakty/pobocky.

More information (including details on urgent care for foreigners without insurance) can be found on the website of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic or on the line +420 226 201 221 or line 1221. If you press option 8 immediately after connecting the call to this line, the line is also in Ukrainian.

A list of doctors who are providing free medical care to refugees in case of need, is being updated on this page: http://lekariproukrajinu.cz/.
