Senior Database Engineer (Azure, Power BI) Description
We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer with Azure Cloud and Power BI to join our team and support critical production databases containing sensitive personal and financial data for a leading insurance customer. In this role, you will ensure database performance, scalability, and security while collaborating with development and cloud engineering teams.

Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive and reactive performance tuning for database workloads in Azure West Europe
- Assist in the seamless migration of databases between Azure regions
- Configure and optimize Azure Monitor for database health and performance insights
- Provide support, working with tickets to resolve database incidents
- Guide application teams on database structure, indexing, and data modeling best practices
- Consult cloud engineers and architects on scalability strategies, Azure feature adoption, and cost-efficient solutions
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and ensure adherence to industry standards
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or in a similar role
- Experience working with Azure SQL Database, including performance tuning and optimization
- Proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views
- Knowledge of Power BI for data visualization, report creation, and dashboard design
- Experience with database management and operations, including monitoring, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth database functioning
- Hands-on experience with automated monitoring and alerting, specifically using Azure Monitor for proactive database management and issue resolution
- Experience with access control and authentication, including RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and Active Directory integration for managing permissions and security
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment for continuous development and improvements
