DESCRIPTION


We are looking for strong and skilled Senior Embedded C++ Developers, who would like to work for an international company as EPAM Systems and to be part of our on-site teams at client’s offices in Madrid. Our client is one of the biggest and more relevant companies in Spain. These roles are the positions to support existing client teams with STB/IPTV development. In the Consumer Applications Development and Technology Management, the HW of the STBs is designed and their SW is developed to be able to provide the different video services that reach the end users of our client. Specifically, hybrid STBs, IPTV STB, Android STB are developed.

The Consumer Applications Development and Technology area requests a service associated with SW architecture and development activities for the integration of low-level components in the 2020 IPTV STBs.

Responsibilities

  • Integration of proprietary SW components in Open Middleware STB IPTV to support the compromised functionalities
  • Integration of third-party applications such as Netflix, Amazon and others
  • Support to the QA team and deployment in IPTV environments
  • Generation of new SW versions for IPTV STBs
  • Support for troubleshooting tasks related to the different versions generated
  • Resolution of bugs; activation and verification of new functionalities associated with new developments
  • Review of the documentation delivered in the development
  • Creation/ modification of the documents associated with the developments of the new functionalities
  • The functionalities to be developed are the following:
    • Integration of own and third-party software components
    • Creation of software branches in GIT system
    • Adaptation of compilation structures of the components to be integrated
    • Integration of controllers (drivers) of the chipset manufacturer
    • Support in third-party certification processes
    • Tasks related to the integration of a browser as an engine
    • Player maintenance tasks (for example, 4K Support)
    • Other tasks related to the MW, at its low level

Requirements

  • Cross compilation environments
  • Makefiles, Shell scripts
  • Experience in Perl, Python and AWK will be an asset
  • Administration of GIT systems
  • Embedded Linux (real time and memory restrictions)
  • C & C++, threads and processes, mutex, semaphores and signals
  • JIRA

  • STB chipsets: Broadcom
  • Browsers integration: WPE, WebEngine, Browser extensions
  • Native Applications: QML, QT
  • Gentoo Distribution
  • Graphic Stacks: OpenGL, Wayland
  • Linux drivers
  • Knowledge of IPTV and OTT:
    • General knowledge about digital television (IPTV, DTV, CATV, OTT, etc.)
    • IGMP, RTSP, http, HLS, SS, DASH and other transmission protocols
    • MPEG-TS/ MP4 Encapsulation, H264, HEVC Video Codecs, AV1
    • DRM (NAGRA, Playready, Widewine)
    • Previous developments in MW of STB
    • Audio and video signaling
    • AndroidTV
  • Previous experience on similar positions related to video (IPTV, DTV, CATV, OTT, etc.)
