Currently we are looking for an APAC Regional Controller to make the team stronger.

The primary responsibility of the APAC Regional Controller for the entities in scope in the region will be to maintain an effective accounting framework and related internal controls to ensure that the accounting records are complete and accurately representing the company’s financial position in compliance with local laws and regulations and US-GAAP, as well as Corporate Policies. In this capacity, the APAC Regional Controller will highly leverage the capabilities of EPAM Global Shared Services Center (SSC) teams and work closely with Finance leadership to assess the right balance of using internal SSC resources, Legal Entity Controllers and their teams (where applicable) and local external agencies (collectively “the teams”) for certain tasks, while overseeing all financial activities of the entities. The role will have overall responsibility for the timely and accurate completion of local Tax and Statutory filings and related Audits. This position is also responsible for ensuring that changes in local legislative environment are monitored and required changes in internal policies and practices are implemented timely, while being the driver in general for continuous process improvements across the region.

The countries in the region’s scope currently cover (China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan (and potentially India)). The scope could be revisited based on changes in the economic and business environment or requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Framework and Related Control Environment:
    • Ensure an effective accounting framework under both Local and US-GAAP is in place, and US-GAAP and local GAAP differences are justified based on GAAP differences
    • Ensure an effective process is in place to monitor local legislative environments and any required policy changes are initiated timely and coordinated among impacted finance functions
    • Coordinate with different Global SSC teams to ensure issues are handled consistently among different teams
    • Review and analyze monthly results in the region during each closing to ensure accuracy of reported Trial Balance under US-GAAP
    • Coordinate with different Global SSC teams to ensure issues are handled consistently among different teams
  • Statutory/Corporate Audits:
    • Responsible for the Statutory Audit engagements in the region
    • Ensure the timely completion and filing of Statutory Audit reports for all legal entities in scope
    • Ensure that reported Audit concerns are properly and timely addressed and related risks mitigated for all legal entities in scope
  • Taxation:
    • Responsible for compliance with applicable local Tax laws and regulations and ensuring a related compliance framework is in place for the legal entities in scope
    • Respond to Tax Authority inquiries and initiated Tax Audits with the involvement of the Corporate Tax team
  • Payroll:
    • Responsible for payroll agency engagements and related payroll processes in the region to ensure compliance with local legislation, SOX framework and other internal policies
  • Transfer Pricing:
    • Work closely with the central Transfer Pricing team and provide support as necessary
    • Ensure that local Transfer pricing regulations and related documentation requirements are monitored and input is provided to the central TP team
  • Finance Business Partnership:
    • Work closely with the central FP&A team so that proper responses can be given to management inquiries
    • Support the annual Budgeting process for the entities in the region
    • Liaise with the Accounting and FP&A teams if corrective actions are required as a result of the above and/or as needed
  • Archiving:
    • Define and maintain archiving requirements and related controls of business records in line with local regulations
    • Ensure that Corporate records are available upon request from Authorities
  • Other activities:
    • Lead the integration of M&A entities into the local legal entities as appropriate while leveraging the EPAM framework
    • Support the initiatives of new entity openings from economic and commercial evaluation perspective and lead the company
    • Support central treasury teams for local banking relationships
    • Other Ad-hoc activities as required

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
  • Holder of a local equivalent of a valid CPA qualification
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in the field of Finance/ Accounting at a multinational company and/or in Audit services (Big4)
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory and IFRS/US-GAAP accounting standards including related analysis and reporting
  • Solid knowledge of Tax regulations including Transfer Pricing frameworks
  • High integrity standards and reliability
  • Solid understanding of partnering within Finance and other local/global colleagues
  • Strong analytical and IT skills (preferable SAP, ERP, MS-Office)
  • Ambitious, polished, highly articulate and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral)

Nice to have

  • Further qualification in the field of Taxation
  • Experience in managing Tax Audits from Legal Entity perspective
  • Experience in working with Shared Services environment
