DESCRIPTION


Currently we are looking for a Head of Big Data Solution for our Kyiv office to make the team even stronger.

As Head of Big Data Solution, you will complete a set of activities related to the project delivery in a company such as lead management, qualification for the bid/financing, staffing, client management, and delivery and execution governance. You will run multiple delivery streams/clients, assuring proper governance on the top management level. Our ideal candidate has hands-on experience in technology and software engineering practices, able to supervise and suggest competitive technical decisions and assure a winning mix of delivery practices applied on the project. Business savvy and able to oversee delivery from financial, sourcing, development and business point of view. You need to have proven track record in managing delivery engagements end-to-end on teams averaging 70-150+ FTEs in total, or connected with high visibility and high business impact projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, drive and adjust Big Data technology expertise development strategy against corporate plans Kiev level
  • Drive corporate wide programs of development training, practical labs, knowledge bases and expertise awareness development
  • Participate in technology/expertise/innovations/differentiators presales to a customer
  • Organize and drive Big Data technology events: conferences, Hackathons, contests, community meet-ups, etc
  • Share technology vision and excellence on engineering organization
  • Advise engineers and managers on Big Data technology expertise and career development opportunities that enables by technology development
  • Adapt new technologies and innovations on country landscape
  • Enable new technologies on projects that struggle from outdated solutions
  • Support engineering initiatives and projects
  • Drive Big Data technology community; share vision on Big Data technology and solutions development and evolutions on engineering community
  • Actively acquire and apply new technology related disciplines
  • Deploy Big Data technologies that give client’s businesses sustainable differentiation in the next generation solutions. This includes design and development of custom-made components as well as adopting or researching alternative technologies
  • Understand and advise about modern technology and solutions concepts
  • Initiate and drive Big Data engineering proactivity and creativity to address delivery and motivation issues
  • Actively participate in company’s Big Data Competency Center activities and services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, MIS, IT, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in developing large-scale, distributed data-centric solutions with at least 5 years with Java or C#
  • 5 years of experience in leading the development and delivery of Big Data, Data Warehousing, and Data Integration solutions
  • 3 years of software development experience in Hadoop environment (Hive, Pig, HBase)
  • 2 years of experience using open source message broker software such as RabbitMQ and/or Kafka
  • Knowledge of or working experience in Data Processing Algorithms and Design Patterns
  • Experience working with big data technologies and high volume transactional systems
  • Strong understanding of ETL process design and automation and recent relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding of database design and development
  • Strong understanding of architecture patterns and operational characteristics of highly available and scalable applications
  • Working knowledge of self-service experiences and open source web application technology stack is a plus
  • Experience with persisting data in one or more Relational and NoSQL DB technologies such as MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with API gateways and authentication technologies, such as OAuth2 and SAML
  • Experience building service-oriented architectures and proficiency with distributed systems built on the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus
  • Experience building large-scale web services, microservices based applications in the cloud environment is a plus
  • Passion for security and a strong understanding of threats, vulnerabilities and compliance standards
  • Experience participating and leading code reviews, refactoring, gathering code quality metrics and measurements
  • Fluency with modern DevOps automation toolchains, the AWS ecosystem, and modern containerization, orchestration, and virtualization technologies

  • Successful track record of entrepreneur/startup background is a great plus
