Digital Strategy & Experience Design

What we do

EPAM’s Digital Strategy & Experience Design Team works with its customers to create an engaging end user experience on digital platforms, websites and mobile apps. We define the strategy, deliver UX and visual design, and then support front-end development. Our strong expertise in these areas helps us avoid the usual gaps between design and implementation that plague many traditional digital agencies.

Success story

One of the largest analytics and business intelligence corporations came to EPAM for help in redesigning its online tenant screening service. This service helps users make informed leasing decisions. The service was developed by a third-party vendor with almost no design expertise and it implemented five years before we became engaged. Our customer needed a partner to assess the current state of the service and modernize it, consider long-term prospects and then create a new look and feel that could also be applied to mobile. We started our work onsite with the customer to learn more about the business and then conducted research aimed at exploring user experience and the interests of other business roles. Based on this, in eight months we designed and built a solution that improved the service experience significantly and resulted in improvements of all key metrics, like number of subscriptions, number of transactions as well as a decrease in the bounce rate.

Our Processes

Our culture is Agile. It drives our decisions and helps adopt processes to changing project needs. Our processes are built on iterations, and they are design-driven. Usually, the design team is one sprint ahead of the development team. Every design sprint, in turn, contains four stages: research, ideate, design and validate. In development, we try to automate as much routine work as possible by building robust CI/CD and investing in unit and automation testing.

To be efficient in providing end-to-end solutions for our customers, we have different roles on our team:

  • Lead Designer
  • UX Designer
  • Visual Designer
  • Front-End Developer
  • JavaScript Developer

Technologies & Tools We Use

We usually align the technology stack according to project needs.

  • Angular 2+
  • React JS
  • React Native

  • Node JS
  • Express JS
  • Sails JS
  • REST API, GraphQL

  • Sketch
  • Zepplin
  • Invision

Life in the EPAM Digital Strategy & Experience Design Team

Being creative is an important skill for a designer. To maintain and boost this skill, you need to practice. That’s what the Kyiv Design Team does regularly during meetups to apply their creativity. It’s not only useful, but fun as well. We also have Design Movie Nights, where we gather and watch design-oriented movies or videos and enjoy pizza.

One more common practice in our Digital Strategy & Experience Design team is continuous knowledge sharing. Twice a month, front-end developers in Vinnytsia meet to discuss new technologies and market trends. With the same regularity, Kyiv designers meet to share their project experience and new design tools and approaches with colleagues. In Lviv, EPAMers have a community that gathers regularly to discuss modern UX trends.
